Drills for Skills Club
HomePlate.Fun is an Oakland, CA based, drills course for young players who will benefit from learning proper techniques for throwing, swinging and fielding.
Throwing
The more of your body and legs you can use in your throw, the more efficient your throw will be. There is a rhythm and a process to your throw that will help you with power, accuracy and distance. The goal will be to make your throw second nature so you can just focus on making the play.
Swinging
This is not an accuracy drill, this is an understanding of how to use your body to make a fast and powerful swing. There are certain ways to perfect this within the style of your player (not all players have to swing the same way). The goal is to develop a good timing swing with power and form.
Fielding
The biggest issue with players struggling with fielding is fear of the ball. It could seem unpredictable. The techniques you learn will help you to see the ball and understand where the bounce will be when you get to it while staying low to the ground to ensure less errors and good throwing position.
Who is this club for?
- You must be between the ages of 6-9 in a non-competative division or about to try out for a competitive one.
- You must be seeking fundamental skills in one of our 4* areas.
- You must demonstrate a love for baseball.
This club is not for you if:
- Your player is outside the age range.
- Your player displays a good sense of fundamentals with a high baseball IQ.
- Your player is not very interested in spending an afternoon having fun practicing baseball fundamentals.
